As I have stated many times on this blog, I am in favour of aggregators which make it easier for people to find content from across the web, although I think there are some limits on what they should do.

I have begun work on an aggregator for Birmingham blogs, to replace the rather poor "blogroll" on this site.

If anyone has any thoughts on whether this is a good idea or not, I would be very grateful for their input.

Work on it has only just begun, and it will be a long time before it is anything close to comprehensive (I'm sure it will never be complete).

Take a look at http://birmingham.localbounce.com and leave a comment, either at the "about" page on that site, or right here.

I was looking at David Higgerson's blog and saw he had a nifty gadget on it from Tweetminster, the website that keeps tabs on politicians who use the Twitter messaging service.

It provides a stream of "tweets" (Twitter messages) from MPs, candidates, major parties, Parliament and the Government.

This seemed cool, so I stole the idea and added the feed to this page, on the right and down the bottom.

(1 Vote) Frantic day today, as I chased reaction to LDV directors filing for administration, reported on Gordon Brown announcing a case of swine flu in Birmingham (although it turned out to be in Redditch) and covered the Gurkha vote.

I also wrote my column, with a slightly sarcastic look at the hysteria surrounding the aporkalypse.

Tomorrow will be busier, as MPs vote on expenses reforms. . .

I signed up to Twitter last night for one main reason - to make it easier for me to spy on what these people are doing. Naturally, once I had made an account I decided to use it to spy on a few other people as well.

Went to bed and thought nothing of it. Came back from lunch this afternoon to find Private Watson had sent me a note telling me off for following his feed without actually posting anything myself. Told off by a politician? As it should be.

Hence, I have started actually posting on Twitter. Blame Labour.

In other news, Watson has a new layout for his blog and a nifty little cartoon image of himself. I may steal that idea.

Welcome to my website. I hope to use this site to talk a little about journalism and politics and, just as importantly, to give me something to link to when posting on other people's sites!
